چکیده

The efficiency of emulsion injection as an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) method is investigated in a synthetic porous medium consisting sintered bi-disperse glass beads, which emulates the porosity and permeability real oil-bearing rocks. Synthetic seawater oil-in-water are successively used to displace mineral initially saturates space. Micro-CT images with 4 ?m resolution acquired at end different stages process; water phase doped KI optimize contrast between liquid phases. Thus, three-dimensional (3D) showing residual present 3-modal histogram. After denoising non-local means filter, alignment segmentation, 3D provide spatial distributions phases, thus allow comparing populations ganglia prior after emulsion. Visual comparison show that droplets oil-water divert path, mobilizing previously trapped ganglia. probability density functions (PDFs) geometrical properties (104 volumes spanning 6 orders magnitude) well defined power law behaviors size corresponding typical pore throat 10 volumes, few very large clusters sizes 5×105 volumes. largest them alone accounts for 97% oil. same PDFs demonstrate successful fragmentation these ganglia, this case key efficient EOR procedure through diversion flow by less permeable regions.

A Pore Scale Evaluation of Produced Biosurfactants for Ex-situ Enhanced Oil Recovery

Microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) is an economical method used to improve the oil recovery from reservoirs. In the MEOR techniques, by applying different microorganisms, a variety of products such as bioacid, biogas, biosurfactant, and biopolymer are generated, among which biosurfactant, one of the important metabolites, is produced by bacteria. It is worthy to note that bacteria are suita...

Analysis of Wood Pore Characteristics with Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry and X-ray Micro- Computed Tomography

The size and distribution of wood pores greatly influence its properties like density, thermal conductivity and permeability as well as acoustical property. Different techniques were developed to measure wood pore characteristic parameters. In this paper, mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and X-ray Micro-computed tomography (μCT) were used to characterize pore characteristics of Populus L. wo...

X-ray micro-computed tomography

Micro-computed tomography (μCT) has been successfully used to study the cardiovascular system of mouse embryos in situ. With the use of barium as a suitablecontrast agent, blood vessels have beenimaged and analysed quantitatively such asblood volume and vessel sizes on embryosof ages 14.5 to 16.5 days old. The advantageof using this imaging modality is that it hasprovide...
